Cowtown Gloria's could kick up some night life

Gloria's is coming.
And not only to Fort Worth, but also to south Arlington.
The new Gloria's in Cowtown will open about Sept. 15. The Dallas-based "Salva-Tex-Mex" restaurants are known for fajitas, margaritas and Salvadoran combo platters.
The Fort Worth Gloria's will also feature a weekend brunch and salsa bands on Friday and Saturday nights, as does the Addison Gloria's. That should stir nighttime traffic at the Montgomery Plaza shopping center, 2600 W. Seventh St.
"Fort Worth is going to be one of our best locations," said Felix Alzado, a manager for owner Gloria Fuentes. "People driving by will see all the fun and stop. ... It'll be busy at happy hour and late-night."
Gloria's is known for the half-price margaritas and $2 beer offered at most locations for happy hour and all day Mondays and Tuesdays; the Greenville Avenue patio in Dallas is packed on Tuesday nights.
The Fort Worth restaurant will be open until 10 p.m. weeknights and 11 p.m. weekends, with the bar staying open until 2 a.m. weekends.
Yet another Gloria's will open next year in Arlington Highlands, the new shopping center on Interstate 20 at Matlock Road that will be like a smaller Southlake Town Square.
Arlington Highlands will bring 12 new restaurants to south Arlington. The first to open -- possibly by late next month -- will be a new location of California-based BJ's Restaurant and Brewery, a sports bar and grill.
Other restaurants coming next year to the Highlands: Mimi's Cafe, Fish City Grill and Fadi's Mediterranean Grill, plus the first Arlington location of Kincaid's Hamburgers and an all-new Hoffbrau Steaks.
South Arlington will also get its first locations for several smaller chains that already opened in other cities: Potbelly Sandwich Works, Which Wich sandwiches, Tia's Tortas, McAlister's Deli, Cold Stone Creamery and Jamba Juice.
This may not mean as much to you, but it's big news to those of us working here in the vicinity of 400 W. Seventh St.
A Cantina Laredo will open in the Tower, the condo high-rise at 500 Throckmorton St. in downtown Fort Worth. That's the upscale cousin to a more familiar local restaurant chain, El Chico.
Also coming to Fort Worth: a version of Southlake Tavern, a spinoff from the Bennigan's chain.
Obviously, it won't be called Southlake Tavern. The tentative name: 29degree Tavern. It'll move into the Chapel Hill shopping center on Interstate 30.
